Sammy and the Turkey Leg - Thanksgiving 2010

Our family (Sam's parents, both grandmas Vera and Gala, cousins Nikki and Jake, and aunt Julia) came over to Sam's for Thanksgiving.




"Yummm. Does it taste better from the other end of the turkey leg?"

Sam's first time trick-or-treating - October 31st

For Halloween, our building had organized trick-or-treating. People would post orange signs on their doors if they welcomed trick-or-treaters. Sam could not miss such an opportunity...

Sammy seized this opportunity to practice his negotiating skills. I told him he could only take ONE treat from each person who offers it to him. Sam considred and said "TWO!" Who can refuse that smile? So Mom gave in. Sensing his victory, Sam proclaimed "THREE!"


Sammy got the concept pretty quicky: "knock on door = get candy!". Sammy got really excited and wanted to then knock on every door. So it took a little while for him to figure out "knock only if there's a sign" concept, but he got it (some knocks later).

First Halloween Parade

For Sammy's school's halloween parade, Sam was a busy bee!

First order of business - look exceptionally cute, to maximize the number of treats!

Deep Cut Gardens, Middletown, NJ - October 17th

On a warm Sunday, we decided to visit this beautiful garden in central New Jersey. Sam enjoys these types of places as there is a lot of room for him to run around, touch and smell new things. This is us in front of the nature center, and around the garden. Sam especially liked climbing on the tree trunks and and running around loose. He also loved counting pine cones with his grandma. He loved the fish pond too.

















The roses are still in bloom. Sam is just learning his colors and recently learned to say "pi" for "pink" (or "pig"). A bit confusing sometimes :)

Bergen County Zoo - September 25th

Sam is into animals these days. So we decided to check out another zoo.

Bergen County Zoo - September 19th

Sam took a ride on the zoo train. He's really into trains these days.

Sam's favorite animals in the zoo were the monkeys. He like saying, "o-o-o-a-a-a!"

So far he really likes school. What's not to like? Fish tank, lots of things with wheels, and lots of other toddlers to plot trouble with.

First day of school - 1st of September

1st of September was Sam's first day of school. Once Sammy realized that school = a lot of new toys, he got excited about going.

This is him leaving home.


He was very proud of his backpack.

All those new toys are waiting at the school! Sammy can't help but smile.


Daddy helps Sam take off his shoes inside the school.


Still smiling... this is before Sam realized that school means mommy and daddy leave! He cried for a few minutes, but got over it very quickly. Nothing like new toys to forget mom and dad in no time!

Ice cream monster

While out on a walk on a hot summer night with his parents, Sammy got a little carried away with the ice cream.

It started innocently enough...


...by Sammy having a little taste...


...then Sammy got really into it....


....until Sammy turned into an ice cream monster!!!!.... aaaarrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Hiking at Flat Rock Brook Nature Preserve, in Englewood, NJ

Sammy really enjoys hiking. He doesn't even mind the steep ups and downs of some of the trails. Today on a hike with mom and dad, he also found a small rock he liked and carried it around with him for a while while hiking. He also liked touching the various plants and trees, and sitting down to rest on the fallen logs.
